The Full Loaf

A heightened wave of experiential, spiritual practice is beginning to appear. Much as we still dwell in Enlightenment rationality and what Karen Armstrong so tellingly sees as superficial modernity, society is also now becoming more aware than ever that theory, theology, conceptualization, and even intellectual understanding do not by themselves a balanced life make.
Mind games are not mindfulness. They may be externally gratifying but they ignore the other element, the inner humanity that fulfills us. Half a loaf in the long run is not better. We need both. And we embrace that missing element by daring to go down paths of listening, meditating, and searching for ways to act compassionately and lovingly in the world and particularly with each other. Let’s do it.
